Dale LaDuke

Dale LaDuke was born in Grosse Pointe Michigan. He began singing in church choirs when he was 8 years old and was principle solist and president of his high school choir, as well as trumpet player in the high school band.
He went on to sing with the Michigan State Honors Choir and the Michigan State Fair Choir.
Around this time he began to teach himself the guitar and the piano and to write songs and play in local bands.
After years of working in Detroit factories culminating in 13 months as a “large press operator” at a Chrysler stamping plant, he ran away to Yosemite National Park, leaving all of his hard earned possessions behind and stayed in the mountains for a year and a half. After a brief return home, where he founded the popular band “Triad”, he soon left Michigan again, and determined to observe humanity at all levels, and to work on his writing, spent several years traveling around the country as an itinerant street peddler, finally settling in Los Angeles.
He was one of the founders of the popular Southern California country band “Five Wheel Drive” that was one of five finalists (and the only country band) in Yahoo’s “Best Unsigned Band” contest in 2000, and the only group to have their songs in 6 of the top 10 slots in the country division of MP3.com that same year. Dale was flown to the red carpet awards show at Studio 54 in Manhattan that featured performances by David Bowie, Issac Hayes, Allanis Morriset and many others. The group recorded two demos for Warner Bros.
Nashville, before finally disbanding.

Dale also began teaching shortly after arriving in LA and has been in demand as a teacher ever since.
After many years of unsuccessfully searching for a simple, step-by-step method to teach piano and music theory, he finally wrote his own “Music Theory for the Theory Challenged”, soon to be made into an instructional DVD.
He currently lives and plays music in Los Angeles with the wonderful folk/americana/celtic band “Kaedmon” as well as backing singer-songwriter Jon T Howard, and makes his living as a songwriter and music teacher.
